Menorah tape art for a Chanukah project is great because its easy to make Menorahs with tape. You can use painters tape in many different sizes or you can use good ole masking tape.

When I am working with groups of children and I don’t have tape for each child then I find this is the best way to deal with it. I rip long pieces of tape and put them next to the children so they can take and rip to the sizes they need.

Once their picture is all done and of course, they don’t have to stick to Menorahs. (Dreidels, star of David’s and presents often find their way into the artwork)

When done they can paint over with watercolors, tempera or acrylic paint or even color over with crayons or markers.

I am going to tell you a trick how to get the tape off without the paper underneath ripping. If you use a canvas panel then it won’t rip but, you most probably will be using some kind of paper.

First of all don’t use copy paper or other very thin paper. Even if you are using a nice watercolor paper it can rip. The trick is to use a blow-dryer or a heat gun.

It’s also smarter for the adult to use it for or with the children as it can get very hot.

Aim the heat gun on the place you want to start removing tape. As it heats up it will dissolve the glue under the tape and make removal very easily.

You do not have to keep the hot air on the tape very long for it to work,.

After they are finished removing the tape they can add any kind of embellishments either with markers or even some collage items.

This child added extra paint around the whole menorah making it more interesting.

Here are another bunch of samples where dreidels were done as well and there was lots of embellishments added to their work.

Enjoy! And Happy Chanukah.

You can see another simple Chanukah project which is quite similar just uses collage to make Chanukah collage art.
