This syllable counting activity has 5 parts to it. This version is a Back to School version using school supplies and object related to school AND Fall since most countries go back to school as Fall is coming in.
The first part is the syllable counting clip cards. You will need to laminate and cut these cards. As they read the words with you they will put the amount of clip cards on each card corresponding to the amount of syllables these words have.
The second activity uses manipulatives along with the words. You can use any small object that will fit into the boxes on the sheets. They say the word and put the amount of objects in the boxes corresponding to the syllable count.
The third activity uses separate cards and sorting mats.
After the pictures are cut apart the children will sort them into one of the sorting mats depending on how many syllables there are.
Perfect for PreK and Kindergarten, these activities provide multiple opportunities for children to practice listening for and identifying syllables in words.
Many of the school related and fall words included may be new to children, making this resource a wonderful way to expand vocabulary while strengthening early literacy skills.
